John Jensen & Dave McCarthy had rough seas but lots of fish! They released 3 sails in 2 hours plus lost another which took a bait as it was being reeled in. Several other strikes too many to count accurately - ended up just fishing with three rods to keep things simple.

15th DECEMBER 1999

Danny Pike hooked then lost a blue marlin when it straightened out the 9/0 hook after 5 mins. Another hit the purple/black widerange and came off after 30 secs whilst a sail tried to eat the short bait at the same time. Seas very rough. Then we hooked a 3rd blue on shotgun bait - eventually tagged and released - 250lb. client very happy, tired and feeling sick so came back in.

Mssrs Peel, Hallam and Smith had a slow trip but Charlotte Hallam did release a sailfish, we were 1 for 1 on them

Tom Bankes tried again and released another sail just off the reef edge today - 1 for 1

Sharky, Ann, Ashton et al had 4 sailfish strikes hooked 3 but 2 jumped off - released 1, so 1 for 4

16th OCTOBER 1999

Tucker et al (6) US Navy - Lots of sailfish around - released 1 from 3 hook ups then went to reef and caught 2 king mackerel and a 31lb wahoo.

12th OCTOBER 2000

Guiliano & McCauthy were persuaded to go for big fish! - missed a sail first then a blue hit moldcraft widerange - tagged & released after 35mins estimated 225lb.

McCarthy,Taylor,Young had a great trip down the edge catching a king mackerel and wahoo of 28 & 60lb, the latter being a new boat record

D.Bowers,Lancaster,Piper caught a 212lb blue marlin which unfortunately came up dead after geting tail wrapped

Repeat customers -Terry & Elaine Field (+ Sarah) - Sailfish took shotgun bird combo - hooked up at 4th attempt & released 9.30am. 2 other sails seen as releasing fish. Later a marlin hit blue/white islander/hoo rig on left rigger - then charged across spread. tagged & released after 35 mins fight on 50lb est 250lb

13th APRIL 1999

David & Sue Wilkinson went 1 for 1 on sailfish along the reef edge.

15th MARCH 1999

C Horsley & Spencer risked going east, and were rewarded with a double header of 34 & 32lb dorado! Later they released a small sailfish and another was missed. Lots of small tuna and barracudas too,.

Rick Heidstra, Cable had calm seas down the edge and plenty of sailfish action going 1 for 3 on them plus caught a 17lb wahoo.

Repeat clients Johnny & Vicky Turnbull had good action on the edge catching wahoo of 32 and 37lb plus missed a sailfish

de Munck,Andrew,Johnstone - fished down the edge and missed 3 sailfish strikes but caught 2 nice dorado of 25lb each.

Neil & Nicky Morris,Johnson+1 had a frustrating start with 5 missed sail strikes on the edge. Went further down and hooked 1 but it came off after 3 minutes - hooked another straight away that we released. Circled around and had 2nd sail on same spot on sailure/bird combo shotgun rig - 2 for 8 in the end and all on the edge!.

Derrick Cross & wife Lot of sails on the edge again - hooked & lost 1 then later in same spot caught 1 and lost another after 4 mins. 1 for 12! on sails inc 2 lost

27th - 30th JANUARY 1999

Vernon,Cleeve,Zara - last minute booking (at the event briefing the evening before the first days fishing!) for SIBT 1999! Clients used their own tackle which proved to be a mistake as their line was defective and broke on every big fish they hooked - a blue marlin on day 1 a white marlin on day 2 and another blue marlin at first light on day 3...

16th JANUARY 1999

Tony Deacon, Steve Nattrass started with a sailfish release off the edge and missed 3 other sail strikes in same area. Went deeper - small blue grabbed teaser plus all 4 baits without getting hooked. Later released a small (30lb) marlin (still not sure if it was a blue or a white). Also lost another sail back on the edge (1 for 6 on them lost 2)- Steve & Tony booked more trips after this trip and became regular clients.
